HF Audio Labs was founded by David Harrill and Joel Ficher — two enthusiasts who arrived at the same philosophy from very different paths.
David Harrill
David Harrill has spent nearly four decades in the mobile electronics industry, building everything from daily drivers and SQL systems to custom hot rods, high-end luxury vehicles, and world-class competition builds.
His experience includes earning an SPL World Championship, operating a successful installation shop, and contributing research and development for respected manufacturers including ESB Audio, Zapco, and Image Dynamics.
Throughout his career, one lesson has remained constant:
Every system should be designed around the customer — not the equipment.
A competition vehicle is designed to win competitions. A daily driver is designed to make every commute more enjoyable. A luxury vehicle demands refinement. An enthusiast's weekend vehicle may prioritize dynamics and excitement.

Joel Ficher
Joel's journey began more than three decades ago as an enthusiast searching for better sound. Over the years, that passion evolved into something deeper — a desire to understand why some systems consistently exceed expectations while others fall short despite using similar equipment.
That pursuit has led to years of studying acoustics, speaker integration, enclosure design, measurement techniques, digital signal processing, and system optimization.
Joel approaches every project with the same mindset:

Working alongside David, Joel focuses on maximizing overall system performance within each customer's budget — carefully balancing component selection, installation priorities, and long-term value to create systems that deliver exceptional performance for every dollar invested.
