The Z-PS110V P100A converts 110 V AC mains to DC at up to 100 amps, with an output adjustable from 9 to 16 volts and a remote voltmeter. It is the 110-volt version, intended for North American mains.

It exists so car audio equipment can be run properly outside a vehicle.

Running Amplifiers Off the Bench

A hundred amps at 14.4 volts is roughly fourteen hundred watts of supply, which is enough to run a serious amplifier at real output rather than at whatever a small supply will tolerate before it folds back.

That is the difference between a bench supply that lets you confirm an amplifier powers up and one that lets you actually test it. Under-supplying an amplifier during a bench test produces symptoms that look like faults — protection cycling, distortion, shutdown — and are only the supply running out of current.

Installation Considerations

Buy the version that matches your mains supply. This is the 110 V unit — the Z-PS220V P100A is the 220 V version, and the two are not interchangeable.

The unit weighs 21.9 kg. Plan a bench or rack position that can carry it and leave clearance around it for airflow.

Size the DC output cabling for the current actually being drawn, and fuse it. A hundred-amp supply is capable of delivering enough current through undersized wire to start a fire, and a bench is not a safer place for that than a vehicle.

Set the output voltage before connecting equipment, not after.
