Zapco HB 410 II 8A — 10-Channel DSP with 8-Channel Amplifier

The HB 410 II 8A combines a 10-channel digital signal processor with an 8-channel Class AB amplifier. Amplifier output is 23 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms, 35 watts per channel at 2 ohms, with a maximum of 70 watts per channel.

Signal-to-noise is better than 100dB with THD under 0.05%, across a 20Hz to 20kHz bandwidth.

Ten Channels Processed, Eight Amplified

This is the highest channel count in the HB II line that runs entirely Class AB. Ten processed channels with ten RCA outputs and eight amplified channels covers a complete active system from one chassis.

The two processed channels beyond the amplified eight are the useful detail. They feed an external amplifier — typically for the subwoofer, where 23 watts would not be enough — while the eight onboard channels handle the front and rear stages.

Four channels of high-level speaker input and two RCA inputs feed the processor, with input impedance of 20 kilohms low and 22 ohms high.

Processing Tools

  • Equalizer: 31 bands
  • Crossover types: Butterworth, Bessel, Linkwitz-Riley
  • Crossover slope: 6 to 48 dB/octave
  • I/O mixing matrix: yes
  • Tuning: PC software and app

With ten channels to configure, the mixing matrix stops being a convenience and becomes necessary — routing a factory source's channel layout onto ten independently filtered outputs is not something a fixed routing scheme handles.

Factory Source Integration

High-level input takes signal directly from a factory head unit or amplifier, letting the processor correct the equalisation and delay a factory system applies before it reaches your drivers.

Input selection covers Aux, Bluetooth, high level, the app player, and OTG. Bluetooth streaming is available through an optional external module.

System Application

A three-way active front stage with rear fill, processed and amplified in one chassis, with the two spare processed outputs feeding an external subwoofer amplifier.

Twenty-three watts per channel across eight channels suits efficient drivers in an active configuration where each reproduces a narrow band. Where drivers need more, the RCA outputs feed external amplification and the unit serves as the processor.

Installation Considerations

Plan the channel assignment before installing. Eight amplified and ten processed channels means two drivers will be on external amplification — decide which, and route the wiring accordingly.

Supply voltage is specified 12V to 14.4V, a narrower range than most amplifiers. Check the vehicle's electrical behaviour if it is marginal.

A ten-channel processor takes real time to configure. That work is the reason to own it.

HF Audio Perspective

Ten channels of processing with eight amplified is a lot of system in one box, and it suits a build where channel count matters more than watts per channel.

That is a real category. An active three-way front stage with rear fill needs eight distinct filtered signals long before it needs a hundred watts on each of them — particularly with efficient drivers, and particularly in a vehicle where the listening position is close. Where the drivers are less sensitive or the system is expected to play loudly, the RCA outputs mean this still works as the processor with amplification added where it is needed. Count the channels your design requires; that is the specification that decides this one.
