AudioControl The EPICENTER Micro PRO — Bass Restoration Processor & Line Output Converter
The EPICENTER Micro PRO combines AudioControl's digital bass restoration processing with a full line output converter. It accepts either speaker-level or balanced line-level inputs, restores low-frequency content lost in the recording or the factory system, and outputs a line-level signal of up to 10V to the amplifiers.
Key Design Features
On the integration side, AudioControl's Load Matching Circuit with a selectable 20Ω, 60Ω or 20kΩ speaker-level input load provides compatibility with modern factory sound systems. Turn-on can come from a 12V remote input, GTO signal sensing or audio sensing, and a selectable ground isolation switch helps resolve ground-loop noise.
On the bass side, ParaBASS controls shape the restoration effect, and a selectable PFM subsonic filter at 24Hz or 15Hz, or bypass, sets the low-frequency limit. The circuit board is conformally coated against moisture, dust and temperature swings, and the ACR-4 dual-knob remote is included.
System Application
The EPICENTER Micro PRO is placed between a factory radio's speaker outputs and an aftermarket amplifier, making it a single-box solution for adding a subwoofer, or a full amplified system, to a factory head unit. With speaker-level input handling up to 40V and a 12V remote output that is active whenever the unit is on, it can also provide the turn-on signal for the amplifiers.
Installation Considerations
Current draw is 300mA with a recommended 1A fuse. Speaker and power connectors and the remote cable are included. EPIC Series monoblocks and the EPICFIVE can supply power, ground and remote through their EPICENTER Link harness.
