The EPICPRO6CX is a 6.5" coaxial speaker from AudioControl's EPIC PRO series, which AudioControl describes as "proaxial": a high-efficiency midrange driver with a compact bullet tweeter and horn mounted at its center. Rated at 200W RMS / 300W max into 4Ω with 98.3 dB sensitivity (2.83V/1m), it is built for output first, with a frequency response of 120Hz – 20kHz.

Key Design Features

The midrange uses a stiff paper cone on a double-roll cloth surround, the suspension style common to pro-audio drivers, mounted in a high-tensile stamped-steel basket. A copper shorting ring in the motor reduces distortion and widens bandwidth toward the tweeter's range. The tweeter uses a titanium diaphragm behind a precision horn for high-frequency output at volume.

Mounting hardware and removable grilles are included, and the speakers are sold as a pair.

System Application

With a low-frequency limit of 120Hz, the EPICPRO6CX is designed to be high-passed and paired with a subwoofer rather than run full range. AudioControl voices the EPIC PRO series to work with EPIC Series amplifiers; at 200W RMS per speaker, the EPICBIGFOUR (350W x 4 at 2Ω, 200W x 4 at 4Ω) is a direct power match at 4Ω.
