For builders who want 8000 Series quality in a simpler 2-way installation — fewer mounting locations, simpler crossover, straightforward wiring — the 8.6K2 is the entry point. The 8.165 woofer and 8.028 tweeter are the same drivers used in the 3-way 8.6K3 system. The 2-way crossover network is designed specifically for this pairing, with crossover slope and frequency optimized for the drivers' characteristics. The sonic result is outstanding for a 2-way system — better than most 3-way builds at lower price points. A front stage upgrade that redefines what 2-way systems are capable of. Pair with a 2-channel Zapco DSP amplifier and move to active biamp operation for the full 8000 Series performance potential. Add the 8.003UMA later if you want to expand to 3-way.
