ESB's Most Advanced Tweeter Engineering in a Single Driver

The ESB 9000 Series 9.1T-28 is a 1.1-inch (28mm) silk dome tweeter that incorporates ESB's highest level of tweeter engineering — including two exclusive airflow management systems not found in any other tweeter in the lineup. The 9000 Series earned the EISA Award for In-Car High-End Component 2024-2025, and the 9.1T-28 represents the more advanced of the two 9000 Series tweeter options.

TCA and FCA Airflow Management

The 9.1T-28 introduces two exclusive systems that ESB developed specifically for this driver. The TCA (Turbulent Control Air) system manages back airflow from the dome, reducing turbulence and noise and controlling the damping behavior of the dome during operation. The FCA (Flow Control Air) system manages the forward airflow produced by dome movement, creating aperiodic damping resistance that allows accumulated energy to release in a controlled, non-oscillating manner. ESB describes this as contributing to more precise response to the audio source and improved overall audio accuracy. These systems operate in addition to the standard engineering features of the driver.

Design

A secondary superior magnet is positioned to stabilize and concentrate magnetic flux exclusively in front of the voice coil — increasing efficiency, manageable power handling, usable bandwidth, and distortion performance simultaneously. The main magnet is N52H neodymium — high-temperature resistant, one of the strongest permanent magnet materials available for this driver format. The pole cup is CNC-machined from ultra-low carbon steel. A pure copper ring reduces voice coil inductance for superior high-frequency response accuracy. The voice coil uses a high-strength aluminum alloy with a pure copper skin coating. The silk dome is pure Japanese silk with resin impregnation and integrated suspension, made as a single piece. A felt ring eliminates dome periphery vibration.

An optional CNC gun-metal anodized ring housing (9.1T-28 Ring, sold separately) extends mounting compatibility to openings up to 95mm and adds a rear acoustic chamber for improved low-frequency extension.

Designed for Real-World Installation

The 9.1T-28 works well in A-pillar locations, sail panels, and custom tweeter pods. The flower-shaped acoustic lens faceplate reduces side refractions in the vehicle environment. The optional CNC ring housing provides mounting flexibility and a rear-chamber acoustic benefit for installations where that configuration is available.

HF Audio Perspective

The 9.1T-28 represents a different order of engineering commitment than most car audio tweeters — including the 9.1T-25. The TCA and FCA systems address airflow management problems that other tweeter designs accept as unavoidable. The dual-magnet system, the N52H neodymium, the single-piece dome construction — each was chosen because it produces a measurable and audible improvement over the alternative.
