The ESB 8000 Series 8.6K3 is a three-way component speaker system combining the 8.165 mid-woofer, 8.075 midrange, and 8.028 rounded Torcon dome tweeter — three drivers built individually to the highest manufacturing standards ESB applies to car audio. The 8.6K3 represents the three-way configuration of the 8000 Series with separately placed drivers, giving the installer full control over driver positioning in the vehicle.

The 8000 Series was developed as the direct heir to ESB's legendary 7000 Series. Every aspect of the design — materials, manufacturing precision, motor engineering, and ventilation systems — was treated with the specific goal of elevating a product that was already considered exceptional.

The 8.028 Torcon Dome Tweeter

The 8.028 uses a Torcon soft dome — a specialized Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) material chosen for its superior heat resistance, low weight, and excellent self-damping. Where conventional soft domes show resonances at the upper end of the audible range, the Torcon dome maintains linear behavior throughout. The tweeter body is machined from 7000 aluminum alloy by CNC numerical control — the same aluminum grade used in aerospace structural applications — providing a construction that is rigid, dimensionally precise, and resonance-free. An N52 neodymium magnet drives the 28mm voice coil, with a pure copper ring added to reduce harmonic distortion. FEM analysis was used to design all metal parts of the magnet for maximum flux linearity throughout the voice coil excursion.

The 8.075 Cone Midrange

The 8.075 is a 3-inch (75mm) cone midrange driver built to the same CNC manufacturing and materials standards as the tweeter. Every detail of its construction — basket geometry, magnet ventilation, cone treatment, cable clamp design — was refined as part of ESB's goal of improving the 7000 Series platform at every point.

The 8.165 Mid-Woofer

The 8.165 basket is machined from 7000 aluminum alloy by CNC — the same material as the tweeter body — for a consistent performance platform across the system. The cone uses non-pressed paper with water-repellent treatment, chosen for its balance of damping and rigidity. An oversized Y-35 magnet ensures consistent magnetic flux across the voice coil excursion range. Advanced voice coil ventilation exposes the entire coil to external air through slotted basket openings protected by a dust filter.

Designed for Real-World Installation

The 8.6K3 is designed for builds where performance is the primary consideration and the installation will be executed with corresponding care. The tweeter suits A-pillar, sail panel, and upper door locations. The 8.075 midrange works well in upper door, sail panel, and custom fabricated locations. The 8.165 handles midbass from the door. The system works with the 8.6K3 CX passive crossover network, and supports active integration for DSP-controlled configurations.
