The ESB 8.6K3S is the 3-way 8000 Series system configured with the 8.028S squared-profile silk dome tweeter — acoustically identical to the 8.028 rounded version, but with a rectangular housing that suits flush mounting in flat panels, door cards, and aftermarket pods where a square grille profile integrates more cleanly. The system is otherwise identical to the 8.6K3: 8.165 6.5" mid-woofer, 8.075 3" cone midrange, matched passive crossover. The only choice between 8.6K3 and 8.6K3S is the installation environment of the tweeter — which housing shape fits your build better. If your A-pillar or tweeter pod is round, choose the 8.6K3. If your installation uses a flat panel or door card mount, the 8.6K3S's squared housing is the cleaner solution. Performance is identical.
