ESB 4.100 — 100mm Midrange Driver

The 4.100 is the larger of the two 4000 Series midrange drivers. Its 100mm cone moves more air than the 75mm 4.75, giving the midrange channel greater output capability and headroom. It is designed for three-way builds where the midrange carries higher demands — and where the installation location can accommodate the larger format.

Key Design Features

The larger radiating surface reaches high output with less effort, keeping vocals relaxed and natural at levels where a smaller driver would be working harder. The 4000 Series N52 motor design is scaled to control the larger cone, maintaining the accuracy and consistency that define the series as excursion increases. The cone and suspension are designed as a system with the motor — the same complete-driver approach that runs through the 4000 Series lineup.

System Application

Active three-way systems with real amplifier power on the midrange channel, SQL builds with high output targets, and front stages designed for demanding listening levels. Mounts in pillar, dash, or kick panel locations sized for a 100mm driver — confirm the mounting location before choosing this format. Passive operation supported through the 4.6K3 CX. In a complete build it pairs with the 4.165 woofer below and the 4.28 tweeter above.

HF Audio Perspective

Choose between the 4.100 and the 4.75 based on the system, not the size: the 4.75 serves most three-way builds well, while the 4.100 is the answer when the midrange channel carries higher output demands and the mounting location supports it. If your build keeps the midrange working — high listening levels, dynamic material, serious amplification — the extra margin is what you are buying. As with any midrange, placement toward the listener and rigid mounting decide how much of that margin reaches the seat.
