A Reference-Grade Midrange Driver for Three-Way 8000 Series Builds

The ESB 8.075 is a 3-inch (75mm) cone midrange driver built to the same manufacturing and materials standard as the rest of the 8000 Series lineup. It is the midrange driver in the 8.6K3 and 8.6K3S three-way systems, and is available as a standalone component for custom three-way builds.

Design

The 8.075 was developed as part of the 8000 Series goal of elevating the 7000 Series platform at every point. ESB describes the development process as treating every detail with the utmost care — including the basket construction, the magnet ventilation system, the cone treatment, and the cable clamp design. The result is a midrange driver built with the same attention to construction precision that defines the 8.165 woofer and 8.028 tweeter alongside it.

The driver uses a motor design with careful ventilation of the magnetic structure, consistent with the 8000 Series approach to managing heat and reducing distortion across the full operating range. The goal throughout is the 8000 Series' defining characteristic: exceptional musicality across all musical content at all listening levels.

System Application

The 8.075 handles the midrange frequency band in a three-way 8000 Series front stage — the frequencies that carry vocal clarity, instrument body, and the tonal accuracy that distinguishes reference-level performance from simply high-quality performance. It works well in upper door, sail panel, A-pillar, and custom fabricated locations aimed at the listening position. Compatible with the 8.6K3 CX passive crossover and active DSP integration.

HF Audio Perspective

In a three-way system built on the 8000 Series platform, the midrange driver carries as much responsibility as the tweeter or woofer. A midrange that does not perform to the same standard as the drivers around it becomes the limiting factor in the system. The 8.075 was built to ensure it is not that limiting factor. For three-way 8000 Series front stage builds, it is the midrange the system is designed to include.
