The ESB 9000 Series 9.3M is a 3-inch (75mm) cone midrange driver built to the same design standard as the rest of the 9000 Series lineup — vacuum and autoclave-molded carbon fiber cone, die cast aluminum basket verified by FEM analysis, TCA airflow control, and neodymium magnets designed with magnetic flux analysis software.

The 9.3M is the smaller of the two 9000 Series midrange options, suitable for installations where the 3-inch format fits the available mounting location.

Design

The cone is made from high-modulus carbon fiber molded under vacuum and autoclave — a technology ESB describes as rarely used in speakers because of its cost, but one that brings significant benefits in naturalism of reproduction and transient dynamics. The die cast aluminum basket, powder-coated, offers low air resistance with a shape verified by FEM analysis to reduce vibration and resonance. A TCA (Turbulent Control Air) system controls the airflow produced by cone movement, creating aperiodic damping resistance for controlled, fast energy release. A lightweight Nomex voice coil with aluminum winding supports the wide bandwidth the driver is designed to cover. An NBL rubber surround provides progressively controlled excursion at high output levels. A large Conex™ spider ensures linear bidirectional excursion. An optional CNC aluminum grille is available separately.

System Application

The 9.3M handles the midrange frequencies in a three-way 9000 Series front stage alongside the 9.6W woofer and 9.1T-25 or 9.1T-28 tweeter. It works well in upper door, sail panel, A-pillar, and custom fabricated locations aimed at the listening position.

HF Audio Perspective

In a 9000 Series three-way system, the midrange driver carries the frequency range that most directly determines how realistic and natural music reproduction sounds. The 9.3M was built so that it is not the performance limit in a 9000 Series installation. Its carbon fiber cone, TCA system, and FEM-optimized basket reflect the same engineering discipline applied throughout the series.
