A Compact Soft Dome Tweeter for Flexible 3000 Series Installations

The ESB 3.25 is a 1-inch (25mm) soft dome tweeter — the smaller of the two tweeter options in the ESB 3000 Series. It shares the same design approach as the 3.28, in a slightly smaller housing that fits mounting locations where the 3.28 would not.

The 3.25 is the tweeter used within the 3.UMA mid-high assembly and is also available as a standalone driver for custom installations where the smaller form factor provides a better mounting option.

Design

The 3.25 uses a silk-impregnated thin fabric dome diaphragm selected for its low moving mass and natural internal damping. The voice coil is ventilated and damped with iron-fluid oil.

Specifications: 4 ohm nominal impedance, 90W nominal power handling, 180W transient, 900 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response, 92 dB sensitivity at 2.83V/1m.

System Application

The 3.25 suits A-pillar locations, sail panels, and mounting positions where a smaller tweeter body provides better physical fitment. It can be used in custom builds alongside the 3.165 woofer and 3.6K2 CX crossover for a complete two-way passive system.

HF Audio Perspective

The choice between the 3.25 and 3.28 is primarily one of mounting location and installation geometry — not a significant difference in performance capability. Both tweeters follow the same design approach and produce comparable results in their frequency range.

When selecting between the two, consider which option allows for the better mounting location. Tweeter placement relative to the listening position has more influence on the front stage result than the small sensitivity difference between the 3.25 and 3.28.
