ESB 4.28 — 28mm Tweeter
The 4.28 is the 4000 Series tweeter — the top of the front stage in two-way and three-way builds. It is designed for systems with real power on the tweeter channel, where the upper frequencies are expected to stay clean and refined as levels and demands increase.
Key Design Features
The N52 motor holds the dome closer to the signal at high output, where transient accuracy in traditional designs begins to slip — cymbals keep their texture instead of turning to glare, and the top end stays refined rather than hardening as volume rises. The 1.5kHz lower limit and 100W continuous handling give the system designer genuine flexibility in crossover placement, including the lower crossover points active three-way builds often use. The 28mm dome format maintains useful dispersion across the width of the cabin, keeping the top end consistent for both seats.
System Application
Active systems: dedicated tweeter channel with DSP crossover control. Passive systems: the 4.6K2 CX (two-way) or 4.6K3 CX (three-way). Suited to SQ builds where top-end refinement at level matters, and any 4000 Series front stage. Mounts in pillar, A-pillar, dash, or sail panel locations aimed at the listening position. It pairs with the 4.165 woofer in a two-way build, and with the 4.75 or 4.100 midrange in a three-way stage.

HF Audio Perspective
A tweeter at its limit is what makes a system fatiguing — the brightness that creeps in at the levels the system was built to play. The 4.28 is for the builder who puts real power behind the tweeter channel and expects the top end to stay composed. Cross it appropriately, match its level to the rest of the stage, and it delivers detail without edge.
