ESB 4.UMA — Midrange and Tweeter Array for Three-Way Front Stage Builds
The 4.UMA combines a midrange driver and tweeter in a single mounting assembly, covering the full upper frequency range of a three-way front stage. It is designed for builders who want greater control and headroom from the upper stage — with one mounting location to position instead of two. It pairs with the 4.165 woofer to complete a 4000 Series three-way system.
Key Design Features
Both drivers use the N52 neodymium motor design that runs through the 4000 Series — a stronger magnetic assembly that improves control of driver motion as output increases. The practical result is an upper stage that stays composed under demanding conditions: vocals remain natural at higher listening levels, and detail holds together instead of hardening. The single-housing format places both drivers at ear level, where staging and imaging benefit most.
System Application
Active systems: each driver on its own amplifier channel with DSP crossover management — the configuration with the most precise control. Passive systems: pairs with the 4.165 woofer through the 4.6K3 CX crossover. Suited to committed SQ front stage builds and daily drivers where a serious three-way stage is the goal. Mounts on the dash, pillar, or A-pillar, aimed toward the listening position.
Specifications
Impedance: 4 ohms. Power handling: 100W continuous, 200W transient. Frequency response: 140Hz–22kHz. Sensitivity: 90.6dB (midrange), 93.5dB (tweeter).
HF Audio Perspective
A three-way front stage lives or dies in the upper stage — it carries the vocal range and the imaging. The 4.UMA makes that stage easier to execute well: one assembly to place, with the headroom to stay natural when the system is driven. It fits the builder stepping into a serious three-way build, whether starting active or running the passive crossover first. Placement and mounting rigidity decide the final result — position it carefully and it delivers what the design intends.
