The Mid-Woofer Foundation of the ESB 2000 Series

The ESB 2.165 II is the mid-woofer used across the ESB 2000 Series speaker system lineup. It is also available as a standalone driver for custom builds and installations where a capable 6.5-inch mid-woofer is needed at an accessible price point.

Design

The 2.165 II basket was designed with torsional rigidity in mind, keeping the cone properly aligned during sustained operation. The driver uses a pressed paper cone with waterproof treatment — a material selected for its balance of low mass, sufficient rigidity, and natural self-damping. A Y-35 ferrite magnet motor and a 25mm aluminum-core voice coil provide the foundation for consistent, controlled cone movement.

Specifications: 4 ohm nominal impedance, 120W nominal power handling, 240W transient, 65 Hz to 9 kHz frequency response, 91.5 dB sensitivity at 2.83V/1m.

System Application

The 2.165 II is designed for door installations as the woofer and midbass driver in a two or three-way front stage. It is used in the 2.6K3U, 2.6K2XP, and 2.6K2X system kits. As a standalone driver it works in custom builds, active systems, and component configurations paired with any 2000 Series tweeter or mid-high unit.
