ESB 3000 Series Construction Applied to the 6x9 Format

The ESB 3.69 is a 6x9 (150x230mm) mid-woofer built on the same design principles as the ESB 3.165 — extended to the 6x9 driver format.

The 3.69 is the woofer section of the 3.69K2.5 speaker system and is also available as a standalone driver for rear deck applications, rear door installations, and custom builds where the 6x9 format is the right fit.

Design

The 3.69 uses a pressed paper cone with waterproof treatment and a Y-35 grade ferrite magnet motor — consistent with the 3000 Series approach of using well-chosen materials to achieve controlled, accurate low-frequency performance. The basket construction prioritizes torsional rigidity to keep the cone properly aligned during operation.

System Application

The 3.69 is designed for 6x9 mounting locations where a woofer-only driver is needed. Paired with the 3.65 widerange driver, it forms the foundation of the 3.69K2.5 two-way system. As a standalone driver, it works well in rear deck and rear door locations where extending low-frequency response from that position is a system goal.

HF Audio Perspective

The 6x9 format offers more surface area than a standard 6.5-inch driver — an advantage for low-frequency output that is worth using when the vehicle provides those mounting locations.

The 3.69 applies ESB's material discipline to the format. Paired with appropriate amplification and signal processing, and used in the location that makes the most sense for the system design, the 3.69 provides a practical and capable 6x9 woofer foundation.
